# Metopia Whitepaper ## Introduction As we are moving towards web3.0, the games that we used to know will significantly change and blend into reality. Ever since the existence of multiplayer game, especially MMO RPGs; players has been monetizing their virtual assets into fiat currencies, mostly through non-integrated 3rd party website. However, we think the Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) is the missing link that is needed to revolutionize the game industry, and the Play-to-Earn games will become the mainstream. * TODO: Insert teaser here ## What is Metopia? Metopia is the next generation **social adventure** game that is built from the ground up supporting and integrating the NFT into the core of the gameplay. This new world on blockchain features rich and diverse biomes that produces different resources; creatures and monsters that have unique materials. The vast and wilderness of unexplored areas challenges the adventurers to tame the wilds, and conquer the lands. You can tokenize a rare material that you have just found from the adventure; or, craft a really high-end item that everyone is willing to pay high price for. Metopia is blending the line between virtual and reality; players can monetize their efforts and hard-works in Metopia. The game itself has some very basic items in the shop, to control the baseline of the market economics. Players are the supplier and the consumer in the Metopia; and, the ecosystem will be naturally formed because each player only have finite number of time and energy per day. The economics will naturally be formed and empowers the players to sell their excessive items, and purchase their needs from the free marketplace. The price naturally ties to the scarcity, and rarity of an item. For example, a really difficult to find and rare drop material will cost much more than a common resource that is abundant. Similarly, a crafted item that requires high rank skill will cost much more than common item that can be crafted by everyone. * TODO: Insert image for player-driven economy ### VR-ready Metopia is going to be the pioneer that brings metaverse one step closer into the world. At the current stage of technology, the closest equipment that resembles metaverse is a VR headset, like the [Occulus Quest](https://store.facebook.com/quest/products/quest-2) (they calling it Meta Quest now). In Metopia, you can enjoy the exact same fun in both traditional platforms (PC, Xbox, PS), as well as in VR. We will be seeking collaborations with other projects, and integrate other NFT collections into Metopia as decorative assets so each player can personalize their town and show off their other collections in Metopia. Here's some ideas of project collaboration that we have been thinking: * A picture frame in your Metopia house, which reads from your wallet to identify our partnered NFTs and display it in game. * A 3D sculpture of our partner NFT project, and player can craft it and place it in the town. * A weapon designed with the general theme of the partnered projects. * and MUCH MORE!! ## Roadmap * [x] **Conceptual Design**\ At this phase, the founding team will be primarily focusing on designing the foundation of Metopia, defining what we represent, and planning our next steps. We want to bring the best work that we can possibly do, pushing ourselves to be the pioneers exploring the realm of blockchain gaming, and possibly a glimpse into metaverse.
* [x] **Proof of Concepts** At this phase, each sub team identifies the missing link of Metopia, and tries to minimally proof the concept is a feasible idea that we can bring forward to our investors.
The art team will be creating conceptual arts that provides the team a visual representation of Metopia; as well as defining the art style of the game. The engineering team will be developing some sort of minimal build on core pieces of the game to proof that the game is achievable with current technology and staff. The design team will be filling in the details of each gameplay components.

After 3 months, the game will be available on Steam for free. However, general public can only play the game via renting a staked character.
* [ ] **Future Updates**\ We don't stop here; the team will be continuously updating new contents in Metopia. This will be an ongoing project for many years to come. We are community-centric game; where the dev team will be listening to our community's feedback, and progressively updating the game to fit both our vision and community's expectation.
