Unlike the mainstream game where there is "classes" associated with characters, in Metopia, your combat style is defined by the weapon that you are wielding. There is no arbitrary "classes" in Metopia, and every player can learn all skills and master it to the max level.
The combat style is determined by the weapon that the players wield; there is no "classes" in Metopia. In one adventure, you can be wielding a spear and fights in the frontline; in the next adventure, you could be wielding a slingshot and unleashes "bullets" on the enemies.
Players gets up close and fighting the enemies toe to toe. Melee weapons are capable of unleashing huge amount of damage at the right moment; however, exceptionally vulnerable dealing with defensive stance.
Spear that allows you to safely engage the combat in safety performing stabs and thrusts to keep the enemies at bay.A
Hammer that is slow and heavy to wield, but surely deals deadly blunt damage that could stun the enemy.
Ring Blade that is fast and agile to perform quick succession of damages.
Range combat unleashes barrage of projectiles from afar. The damage is primarily done by the projectile that you are using; the weaponry defines the method of delivering the projectile. Range weapons cannot "block" incoming attacks.
Slingshot is the primary choice of range weaponry, it's versatile to use all types of projectiles, and capable of delivering steady damages. It's accurate, but the damage output is purely from the wielder.
Ballista leverages the mechanical strength to deal significant damage to the enemy. The speed is slow, but damage is high. This weapon is ineffective to break the enemy defense.
In Metopia, the life skill that you been using to socialize with your friends have actual benefits and usage in combat. This is referred as support combat skills; which directly or indirectly helps on the combat.
Play Instrument, when proficiently mastered, it provides temporary buff to the team.
Campfire is one of the method to regenerate health when not in combat.
Dodging is generally preferred way of completely mitigating incoming attack and damages; however, dodges can only be performed couple times then it needs some recharge.
Guarding is the last resort of mitigating incoming damages; it's less effective unless you are wearing heavy armor. Guarding does not mitigate 100% of damage.
When enemies are in defensive stance, there will be weak point(s) of their defense. Player can focus fire on that particular point. If successfully breaking the defense, the enemy will become vulnerable and stunned.

Each creature have their weakness on certain type of elemental damage; players can leverage this and craft items that can deal elemental damages to make the adventure much easier. However, you should also note that equipments crafted using the material of the creature will be susceptible to elemental damages done by creatures as well.
